I made a mistake. My blog post had a typo in it. I posted a Facebook comment to correct an error I made in a Facebook comment. If I had looked more closely, I would have realized that an email I sent to my boss did not actually make sense. The copy editor needs a proofreader. The Emperor has no clothes.
As a copy editor, I am obviously very interested in error-free writing so that nothing detracts from the message. So it is especially aggravating to me when I am the perpetrator of grammar goofs, punctuation pratfalls, and syntax slip-ups. From now on, I pledge to pause before I click send and to extend a little grace to myself when it happens the next time.
Note to self: Only God’s words are perfect. “And the words of the Lord are flawless, like silver refined in a crucible, like gold refined seven times.” (Ps. 12:6 NIV)
